The Retail Grocers' Association of Kansas City, at their regular meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 12, unanimously passed the following resolutions: Whereas, There is now before our state legislature a bill to repeal a law prohibiting the sale of any baking powder containing alum; be it Resolved, by the Kansas City Retail Grocers' Association, in regular session, That we deprecate the present law, as unwise and unjust. We do not believe the strong arm of the law should be used to prevent the people from using an article of such universal and necessary consumption, which our experience as grocers leads us to regard as wholesome and comparatively cheap, and cornel them to use one no better and at twice the cost, simply to enrich a corporation that has grown enormously wealthy and gone through the land seeking to influence legislation to serve their own pecuniary interest under the hypocritical guise of pure food laws.
