Masses by Giovanni Andrea Florimi, Giovanni Francesco Mognossa, and Bonifazio Graziani (Hardcover, Reissue)

The three masses in this volume, all printed in the 1660s and early 1670s, provide fine examples of the mid-century "messa concertata " in northern and central Italy. All three are written in the concerted style, but each exhibits a slightly different aspect of the term "concertata ." Furthermore, the composers represent three different regions and their musical traditions: Budrio (near Bologna), Novara, and Rome.
