The year under consideration having been the nrst during which the entire length of the Road has been in operation, has been naturally looked upon as a year of experiment, and that too in more senses than one. With no certain or reliable data from which the amount of business and of revenue therefrom could be inferred, the community interested in the work, have eagerly watched the development of the actual state of things, and have seen their largest expectations more than realised in 111 actual experience of the year.
