Michael Edward "Mike" McMahon (born February 8, 1979 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American football quarterback who is currently a free agent. McMahon starred at North Allegheny High School in Wexford, Pennsylvania. McMahon attended college at Rutgers University. He is third all time passing and started all four years (1997-2000). He was the first Scarlet Knight quarterback to be drafted. McMahon was drafted in the fifth round in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He made eight appearances and started three games for Detroit in his rookie campaign, leading them to their first victory of the season against the Minnesota Vikings on December 16, 2001. Detroit drafted University of Oregon quarterback Joey Harrington with their first pick in the ensuing NFL Draft, relegating McMahon to a back-up role until his contract expired in 2005.
