Technology today is an established series that has been well-researched and tested. The course uses a learner-centred, activity-based methodology. The series has been revised to meet the outcomes and assessment standards and reflects the principles of the revised national curriculum statement. The activities are designed so that learners will acquire new knowledge and concepts; skills such as thinking, technical and social skills; value and attitudes about people, the environment, bias and strategies to deal with these. A 'How-to' feature gives instructions and helps learners to develop skills as technologists. Each module has a capability task, called challenge. The teacher's guide includes detailed guidelines on how to organise learners, the equipment and tools needed for each activity, the focus and suggestions for assessment for every module in the learner's book. Language is developed through the new words boxes in the learner's book which explain words that have a special meaning in technology. Detailed extention and support activities in the teacher's guide assist the teacher to manage differentiated learning.
