Our industry is being attacked with great force, and for a time has been driven back, so far as proportion of work is considered, and certainly we are not even now advancing. But here comes up our reserve power--our association. And just when many of us have been feeling that there was to be given further disappointments and discouragements we catch a glimpse of the reinforcements, and realize that the things we would like so much to see done, but were unable to do as individuals, may easily be accomplished by our association. May the spirit that actuated our army be ours. The crisis in the great war had been reached, and when a French commander advised the further retreat of the American forces he was answered: "Our flag has been forced to retire.
