New York City: "The new rate introduces an advanced idea into the gas business, although the same idea has been used in the making of electric rates for some years past, and these electric rates have proven very popular and very successful. So far as we have been able to learn, this idea has been applied in a very limited way by only four or five gas companies in the United States, and none of these rates have been designed to benefit the small residence consumer. In the application of this form of rate, we have gone further than any other gas company so far as we know. In this respect Norwalk has something absolutely NEW." PUBLICITY MANAGER FROM DAILY FIELD. II IF Montreal Light Heat & Power Company of Montreal, Canada, has appointed a new Publicity Manager, and has found him in the right spot. Naturally, the Utilities Corporation must do a large share of its advertising through the daily newspaper, while at the same time using its own means of distribution, and also the mails, but a large share of this publicity work must be in the daily press.
