Excerpt: Home Away The Hanwha Eagles ( ) are a professional baseball team based in Daejeon City, South Korea. Founded in 1986, they are a member of the Korean Baseball Organization and compete in the annual KBO Championship. Their only Korean Series Championship victory was achieved in 1999, when they were part of the now-defunct Magic League. The team's home ground is Daejeon Baseball Stadium. Total seating for the stadium is 13,242. Their principal sponsor, Hanwha (), is a chaebol (conglomerate) with a diverse portfolio of industrial interests. The team's mascot is an orange eagle, which symbolizes both "fire" and the "sun." The orange color, or "fire," represents the Hanwha conglomerate and the eagle represents the "sun," as the eagle may take off for the sun and achieve great success. In the Hanwha Eagles, the number 35 had become the first retired number in honor of the legendary slugger Jang Jong-Hoon, who is currently the batting coach of the Eagles. Jang had made the greatest legend of a trainee in his period won three-consecutive home run titles from 1990 to 1992; especially in 1992, he hit 40+ home runs in this season for the first time in the KBO history. He also won the Golden Glove Award four times. He is still held in high esteem from not only most Eagles fans but many Korean baseball fans.
