Excerpt: Major Raimondo D'Inzeo (born 2 February 1925 in Poggio Mirteto) was a successful Italian show jumping rider from the late 1940s until the late 1970s. He was Olympic champion and double World Champion. Together with his elder brother Piero D'Inzeo, they were the first athletes, to compete in eight Olympic games, namely consistently from 1948-1976. Their point of glory was achieved in the Olympic Games in 1960, in Rome, when Raimondo won the gold medal and Piero won the silver medal in the Olympic show jumping final, the Grand Prix. As an officer in the Italian cavalry he always wore a uniform when competing in tournaments .
