Excerpt: The Euro-Mediterranean University or EMUNI University is the first international University in Slovenia. It has 115 member institutions from 32 countries. EMUNI was inaugurated on June 9 2008 in Portoro, Slovenia, with an objective to become an international, post-graduate, higher-education and research institution, fully integrated in the Euro-Mediterranean Area. It was co-founded by universities and other higher-education and research institutions. In February 2009 EMUNI became a legal entity in the Republic of Slovenia. The first session of the General Assembly of EMUNI was summoned in November 2008, where its bodies were elected. EMUNI's President became Prof. Dr. Joseph Mifsud. EMUNI Management Board currently has 11 members, mainly rectors of member universities, while the EMUNI Senate is composed of 25 Members. The both bodies discuss and adopt decisions at its regular sessions.Center EMUNI acts as a secretariat of EMUNI University, while EMUNI Foundation facilitates obtaining the financial resources for the university.
