BRC Global Standard (Paperback)

This publication sets out the requirements for the supply of safe and legal consumer products and covers 30 category headings including: tobacco and accessories; clothing, footwear and accessories; furniture, carpets, household and garden products; medical products; audio-visual and photographic equipment; recreational goods; and fuels. The products may be retailer branded, branded or for use by other organizations. The standard requires the adoption of hazard analysis and appropriate controls to be established; a documented and effective quality management system; and an effective control of factory environment standards, product, process and personnel. It provides details of specific requirements and recommendations on good practice. The standard has been developed to promote product safety, legality and quality, but does not encompass requirements in relation to staff health and safety, environmental or ethical issues. It should be applied at the point of manufacture and subsequent storage and distribution prior to delivery to the retailer or customer. It is not intended to replace the requirements of any legislation requiring a higher standard for a specific industry sector and will supplement product testing programmes.
