Waiting on October (Paperback)

Onyx Fonte is a real estate agent by day and a waitress at an exclusive restaurant by night. She falls in love with a wealthy retired doctor, Dr. Hans Oetkerheim, one of her frequent customers at the restaurant. She soon learns that Hans has five ex-wives and all of their birthdays are in the last week of October. Onyx's birthday is October 31. Their relationship blossoms into an engagement. Then one day her close friend Kent Novello, a prominent attorney, gives her an incriminating case file about her lover. The case file contains horrifying court records. While searching for a bottle of wine in the cellar, Onyx sees an inscription in the Italian stone wall that reads "October's Inn, 1865." She becomes suspicious because it becomes apparent that Hans has a fetish for October. Upon investigating she learns that Hans has a minor in geology and that as a young child he didn't have any friends so he started a rock collection. When he grew up and became wealthy, he traded in those common rocks for a gemstone collection. It hits her hard that he has a fetish for gemstones also and that she is named after a gemstone.
