These laws are, however, scattered through the general railroad legislation of the State. They do not exist as a separate act. For the convenience of those wishing to make use of them, they have been collected and are here printed. PROVISIONS OF LAW RELATING TO THE BOAED OF KAILBOAD COMMISSIONEES OF MASSACHUSETTS. The section-mark () designates the section of the compilation of railroad laws prepared by the Board in 1878; the word "section" with number in brackets, following the above, indicates the section of the Massachusetts General Railroad Act of 1874 (Acts 1871, ch. 372); the figures in brackets indicate the year and chapter of laws passed subsequently to the General Railroad Act of 1874. f BOARD OF RAILROAD COMMISSIONERS. 6. [SEC. 6.] There shall be a board of railroad commissioners, consisting of three competent persons. The governor, with the advice and consent of the council, shall, before theUrst day of July in each year, appoint a commissioner, to continue in office for the terra of three years from said day; and if a vacancy happens, by resignation or otherwise, he shall in the same manner appoint a commissioner for the residue of the term, and may in the same manner remove any commissioner. Said board shall have a clerk, to be appointed by the governor, whose duty it shall be to keep a full and faithful record of the proceedings of said board, and to serve such notices as may be required of him by the commissioners.
