Hereward, the Last of the English (Hardcover)

Charles Kingsley was a 19th century British novelist. Kingsley became a minister before becoming a Professor of Modern History at the University of Cambridge. Hereward is part of the British lowlands legends. Kingsley paints a romantic picture of this 11th century Anglo-Saxon leader of England. He led a resistance of the Normal Conquest and for this was branded an outlaw. Hereward resided on the Isle of Ely. Much speculation surrounds this legendary figure. Some say Lady Godiva was his mother. Some equate the later legends of Robin Hood to many of his acts. No matter what is fact and what is fiction his story is an excellent historical adventure.
