This brawny, yet brainy action thriller manages to be both exciting and thought-provoking. It also has a genuinely realistic feel to it, and that makes it just a little more scarier, because only after you finish watching it will you realise that bad guys like this surely do exist in our world. And the fact that this movie is based in part on a real shadowy banking corporation helps to put our current global recession into perspective.
The plot starts out mechanically enough, with an Interpol agent trying to avenge his partner's death while pursuing some crooked CEO types with the assistance of a Manhattan Assistant District Attorney. But they both soon find that going up againt the baddies isn't as clear-cut as it sounds. Soon, our heroes are on the run trying to stay one step ahead of the suspects as well as trying to pinpoint just who exactly their suspects are.
There is alot of international intrigue, as our heroes cross continents, chase bad guys and get chased by bad guys in breathless style and efficiency. There's a brilliantly orchestrated shootout in the Guggenheim Museum that is definitely the action highlight of the movie, and thankfully the acting and storyline still manages to impress. Definitely a movie to entertain and make you think. (4 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)

Synopsis
