This is the second book by author Tillotson completing his study of the Southern Railway's diesel operations from the 1950s through the NS merger in 1982. The author personally photographed a majority of images appearing in the book, which offers detailed captions, sometimes even half-page descriptions, about the train and operation being depicted. Provides background information on the line and how it fit into the Southern's overall picture at the time. This is a follow-up volume to the first book, published in August, 2003 and it completes this comprehensive and literate study of Southern Railway in the height of the diesel era.
