The opening of China has brought the nation with the world's largest population into active engagement with the rest of the globe. Travel, commerce, and international relations now bring all people together. Yet both Western countries and China know little of each other. Health communication scholars will find little about China in the literature, and the combining of communication scholarship with concern about health is a new idea to many in China.
