This set is one of a series of book packages offering practical, accessible and in-depth resources for the development of literacy skills through group reading. Each package contains four copies of eight fiction titles, one teacher's manual and one audio cassette. The teacher's manual offers practical strategies for organizing and managing group reading, a sound theoretical rational for its value and relevance in the context of the National Curriculum (and Scottish 5-14 Curriculum), detailed book-by-book lesson plans, both book-specific and generic photocopiable pupils' activities, and the photocopiable anthology for extending studies of author, genre and themes. The audio cassette offers selected extracts from the books and a photocopiable anthology to provide models for reading. 32 plastic jacket covers to protect children's books are also included.
