Former WWE star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a 'personality' rather than an actor per se, and as such, he is perfect here as gridiron quarterback Joe Kingman; a dedicated player who is working hard for his team to win the year's championship. However, much to his surprise, he suddenly learns that he has an eight-year-old-daughter, Peyton Kelly (Madison Pettis,) who suddenly arrives, unannounced, on his very doorstep! This changes his entire lifestyle very much indeed - much to the annoyance of his agent, Stella (Myra Sedgwick.) Of course, being a Disney film, there are no surprises in the storyline; but it does make the important point that ballet is by no means for softies! And the end scenes - while predictable - are very moving indeed (well, I cried anyway!) Verdict: a funny yet touching family movie, set against the very competitive background of American football.
