Monevre D. Convjay (Virginia). JULY FOURTEENTH. 1758 Washington wrote Colonel Bouquet: "It gives me great pleasure to find you approve of the Indian dress I have put niy men into. Caprice and whim had no share in causing of it;--'t is evident, I think, that soldiers in such a dress are better able to carry their provisions, are fitter for the active service we are engaged in, and less liable to sink under the fatigues of a long march." 1775 "It is recommended both to Officers and Men to make themselves acquainted with the persons of all the Officers in General Command, and in the meantime, to prevent mistakes: the General Officers and their Aides de Camp will be distinguished in the following manner. The Commander-in-chief by a light blue Ribband, worn across his breast, between his Coat and Waistcoat. The Majors and Brigadier Generals by a pink Ribband, worn in the like manner.
