" Not that I am aware." " If I can do any ting for you I vill; but I will give you a bit of advice. Do not be hum bugged by de people here; dey are all dam tieves; I know dat myself; I find dem out. Let me buy your tings for you--I will take care not to pay de rascals too much " " Well, we shall see," said Montford, " but at present I must make haste to dress." " Oh yes, it is late--bon jour, Monsieur " and with this the foreigner retired. Charles breakfasted that morning with Doctor Tell. In the course of conversation he mentioned that he had now got a room. " Of whom did you hire it ?" said the Doctor. " Of a very strange fellow, a German, who speaks in all kinds of languages--sings like a Swiss--and imitates the bugle horn."
