This XiTsonga language course, designed for outcomes-based education, follows a learner-centred approach, developing the language and thinking skills that learners need to achieve in our rapidly changing world. An emphasis on South African writing, ensures that the material is relevant to the experience of the learners, and provides a wide range of authentic reading, listening and visual texts. The themes chosen are based on the prescribed Phase organisers and ensure that integration of all learning areas is achieved. Learning activities such as listening, writing, speaking, reading and talking skills will be developed. This series supports the teacher by providing guidance with continuous assessment, Performance Indicators and Assessment Criteria for each activity, and a brief overview of outcomes-based education approach is included in the Teacher's Guide.
