Israel's Obligations under International Law (Paperback)

Despite Israel's partial redeployment in the OPT after the signing of the Oslo Accords between Israel and the PLO in 1993, Israel still has the upper hand in all aspects in the lives of the Palestinian people in the OPT. Little has been written about Israel's obligations in the OPT after the signing of the Oslo Accords, which created a new situation, including the establishment of the PA, which also bears certain responsibilities in the Territory. The fact that Israel is still deemed an occupying power in the OPT indicates that Israel has a legal obligation under IL and is responsible for the implementation of IHL and IHRL in the OPT. This study follows an analytical and critical approach for the theoretical framework governing occupation and its application on the Israeli Occupation in the OPT, which can be useful for academics. The legal implications of IL in regard to occupied territories will also be clarified for employees of human rights organizations and others who wish to understand the post-Oslo scenario in a more comprehensive manner.
