They are currently members of the Western Division of the National Football Conference in the National Football League. The team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, joined the NFL in 1976 as expansion teams. Seattle is the only team to have played in both the AFC and NFC Championship Games. The Seahawks' only Super Bowl appearance was in 2006 for Super Bowl XL.
