Christos Yannaras (born in Athens, 1935) is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Athens. He studied Theology at the University of Athens and Philosophy at the Universities of Bonn (Germany) and Paris (France). He is a Ph.D of the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). He is also a Ph.D at the Facult des Lettres et Sciences Humaines of the University of Sorbonne (Paris). He has been nominated Doctor of Philosophy, honoris causa, at the University of Belgrade and also at the St. Vladimir's Seminary, New York; Visiting Professor at the Universities of Paris (the Catholic Faculty), Geneva, Lausanne and Crete; Professor of Philosophy at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, from 1982 to 2002; and elected member of the Hellenic Authors' Society.
