Basic Human Values in Estonia and Baltic Sea Countries (Paperback)

The book focuses on revealing the significance and peculiarities of Estonia's space of basic values and its division into two large and dissimilar ethno-linguistic groups: Estonians and (mostly) Russian-speaking non-Estonians. There seems to be sufficient justification for making that distinction since separate languages (and even alphabets) along with differing cultural and psychological attitudes have resulted in quite distinct processes of socialization in the two groups. The approaches used in the volume are based on the theoretical work of Milton Rokeach and Shalom Schwartz.
