Keith Randall is a gifted writer but a reclusive and lonely human being. Years of despair have fueled his dark novels, but a sudden rush of memory changes his direction. He pens a historical romance dedicated to his late wife Mel, retelling their story. The book is heartfelt and deeply touches Keith's agent Lannie, who is amazed at the depth of Keith's love and subsequent loss. Once finished, however, Keith feels that he has lost the last tie to Mel that he had; one that he'll never have again.
