"Ye must also lee to the good order of the said mills, that neither the vagabonds do use shameless craving nor begging, to the great grief of good men and slander ot the house; neither that they obstinately nor frowardly (lull deny their-aid and help towards the lifting up and taking down of such grain as shall be brought into ihc said mill, but that they shew themselves ready and willing to offer their service, without conditioning for any reward. Ye shall every Saturday call the Clerk of the Works before you, and the Miller likewise, and take a true accompt ot him, and cause the same to be registered in the Chief Clerk's book of the affairs of this house. Ye mall also, for the good order of this house, have an eye to the lodging and chambers of the said vagabonds, and to allign two of them weekly to cleanse and make the beds, and keep sweet the lodging: and forasmuch as this house is specially erected to the condemnation of idleness, and that the said vagabonds do continue in the mill but the one half of their number at one time, and then, ending their talk, do lit idle while the other half be a grinding of their task, that therefore ye shall cause the fume number that cometh out of the mill to be forthwith occupied in the making- of tile pins, which is a work of no great labour, and yet commendable for the excluding of that hateful enemy idleness, and also profitable to the house.
