Cross Purposes - A Theatrical Celebration of Easter Week (Paperback)

Cross Purposes is a theatrical celebration of Holy Week. Using drama, music, and scripture, this hour long play/worship service retells the events from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday. The story is told through the eyes of the people who were present in Jerusalem at the time. This play was originally performed entirely by two men, but the many roles could potentially be assigned to a large cast of men, women, and children. Among the characters are Jacob, a merchant whose donkey is stolen on Palm Sunday. Then there is Judas, who has a desperate plan for revolution. Petronius and Marcus are two comic soldiers who have been assigned to guard Jesus' tomb against grave robbers. The many scenes and monologues are all tied together by glimpses at Jestus and Dysmas, two bumbling con men who share Jesus' final hours. The play is hilarious, enlightening, and heartwarming.
