Y7"E have all heard something about Heaven. * What are we to understand by this word as we see it in the Bible? Words usually express thoughts. What thoughts have we when we use this word Heaven? Let us see how it is used in the Bible. Here we find the word in the first verse of the first book. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." By heaven the sacred writer here means all that surrounds the earth, -- the air, the skies, and all that we see in them or can conceive to be in them. We l'ead of the clouds of heaven, the winds of heaven, the dew of heaven; in all of these passages the word means the air. The Hebrews believed in three heavens: the aerial heaven, where the birds fly, the winds blow, and the showers are formed; the heaven or firmament, where the stars are seen; the heaven of heavens, or the third heaven, which is the place of God's residence, the dwelling of angels and "the spirits of the just made perfect."
