September the 16 1656 Barnabas Oley late fellow of Clarehall in the Universitie of Cambridge hath Deposited in the Handes of The Master Fellowes & Schollars of Clare-Hall aforesayd for the Time present, The sum of One Hundreth & Ten pounds good money to be payd by them or their successors for the Time Being, within seven yeares after the Death of the sayd Barnabas Oley unto the Provost Fellowes & Schollars of Kinges Colledge in the sayd Universitie for the Time being with care & fidelitie. The sayd Barnabas Oley doth most humbly desire the Provost Fellows & Scholars of Kings Colledge aforesayd for the time being to accept One Hundreth pounds of that sayd sum of nol. as a Testimony of his good affection & due respects to Kings Coll., and as a Compensation for any Detriment that Colledge susteined by parting with that part of Butt-Close which Clarehall now holdeth of them by Lease, & as a mean to perpetuate Love & amitie betwixt Kings Coll. & Clarehall. And the sayd Barnabas Oley doth further desire the Provost of Kings Colledge for the Time being to take unto Himself Three of the Senior fellowes & four of the Junior fellowes of Kings Coll. for the time being, the sayd fellowes all, to be nominated by the Master of Clarehall for the Time being, & with them to consult, & with all their consents or the consent of the maior part of them to Lay out the sayd Hundreth poundes for the benefitt of Kings Colledge aforesayd, either for Reedifying with good stone that west part of the sayd Colledge which is only yet built with Timber, or for increase of the Publick library of the said Coll., or for accommodation of the Gardens of the...
