The Clan settled in the Appalachian mountains of what would become
West Virginia. They came here to prosper and escape persecution
from the Church of Scotland for their Pagan beliefs. They arrived
in 1773 just after the Revolutionary war. Now close to one hundred
years later they are in the midst of the Civil war and trying to
avoid contact with outsiders. Their anonymity is paramount; they
are adamant about preserving their ways. But this will become a
great challenge as the war claims their leader. Thomas McFarland is
the leader of the clan but after a family tragedy he decides to
