This book provides a comprehensive treatment of micromechanics as well as the micromechanics of fracture in engineering materials, focusing on structural metals, ceramics, polymers, and their composites. An emphasis will be placed on compiling information on the material, microstructural and micromechanical aspects of fracture that have been generated in the recent past. In this sense, the book will be a significant departure from the traditional fracture mechanics texts. Aditionally, topics that are practically relevant but have received less attention in the past, will be treated in a balanced manner.
