Sixteen-year-old Yadu returns from a game of street cricket when he notices that the Black Morris has returned in front of his house. He is rudely pulled into the car and threatened by the Englishman sitting inside to pass on a message to his father. Yadu learns from his father, an employee of the RBI, about him being blackmailed for information by Hardaker - a notorious goon - about the transfer of a huge amount of reissuables from Madras to Coimbatore. After much coaxing, Yadu convinces his father to go to the police. Just as Ranganathan steps out of his house, the Black Morris returns, kidnaps him and disappears into the night.
