Azad Bilgrami, in his Khazana-i-'Amirah. nariates that one day Majd-ud-Din, while in the company of Baha-ud-Din, daringly said that ho could finish the "Saljuq Namah" in one day. The poet, kept to his word by Baha-ud-Din, completed the work within a few hours in A.h. 669-A.D. 1270, as would appear from the following veses of a Qit'ah (quoted in the Khazana-i-'Amirah), which the poet composed to commemorate its completion: --Except Azad, no other biographer mentions any Saljfiq NYtmah composed by this M-jd-ud-Din. According to Taqi Kashi (Oude Cat., pp. 17 and 478), Majd-ud-Din died in A.h. 686 = A.d. 1287. See also Etho, Bodl. Lib. Cat., Nos. 678 and 679, where copies of his diwan are mentioned, and Rieu Supplt., No. 211, ii., iv. and vii. By this " Saljuq Namah" the poet probably meant the big poetical history of the Saljuqi Dynasty composed by Qani'i, who was living in Quniyah in A.h. 672. (See Rieu, ii. p. 583'.) VOL. I..
