The literacy rate of this community is reported to be nearly 75% in some small pockets of population (2001 census in Manipur, the population is meager 3500) but average literacy is around 55%. As per the 2001 census report of India, the literacy rate in West Bengal of this community is 71.9 percent (Male - 80.6 percent and Female - 62.8 percent).
