Eritrea played a large role in both the Eritrean civil war and the
border dispute with Ethiopia, because they make up more than 25% of
the Eritrean military.During the First World War, over 2,300 women
served overseas in the Canadian Army Medical Corps. During the
Second World War, 5,000 women of the Royal Canadian Army Medical
Corps again served overseas, however they were not permitted to
serve on combat warships or in combat teams. The Canadian Army
Women's Corps was created during the Second World War, as was the
Royal Canadian Air Force (Women's Division).
