Little is known about Angel Gregorio Villoldo Arroyo but he was
born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1861 and is considered one of
the pioneers of the tango. He was both a lyricist, composer and
singer and this tango is one of the defining pieces of music of
this time. It was composed circa 1903 at around the same time as El
Choclo "The Corn Cob" and Acorazado Rivadavia. Angel Villoldo is
known by many pseudonyms including A. Gregorio, Fray Pimiento,
Gregorio Gimenez, Angel Arroyo and Mario Reguero Sheet Music for
Piano arranged by Lars Christian Lundholm. Don Pedro is also known
