Having been requested to preach at the Bicentennial Commemoration of one of our oldest and most interesting Independent Communities, I was obliged to seek the particular information which the Service involved among very widely scattered sources. I was overwhelmed with engagements when the request reached me: but though I could do the office little justice, the honour was too great to be declined. The celebration of Jubilee and Centenary (by the by, the latter includes no necessary idea of years, but no more does Century, though custom has established its use, ) may fall to the lot of a few, --it is almost to be doubted whether more than two men of our Order had ever assigned to them this task before.
