Ed. i. they received their expences, as appears by the writs, de expenfis miUtum, civium & turgenjium, then directed to the bailiffs of that town, and are to be found in the clofe rolls in thofe years. 1.3 fc In the 27. 28. 29. 33. of Hen. 6. the meriffs of 6 Yorkshire, after the return only of the Burgefles for Scardeburgh conclude thus. Et tunfunt aligua civitatul, vel allqua civitas, nee plures Burgi in comitaiu etwrum, undealiquis civis ciuplu, res.Burgenfts ad parliamentum pradiftum ad prafins venire facere pajjum. And there are not any cities, or city, or more Burgs in the county of York, from whence I can make any citifens, or more Burgefles at prefent come to the aforefaid parlement. I fee not what could be 3 temporary reafon why at that prefent the fheriff of Yorkmire, could not caufe more Burgefles to come to thofe parlements, from other Burghs than Scardeburgh, except one or both of thofe abovementioncd. In the 29 Hen. 6. only citifens 7 for Norwich, Burgefles for Lin and Yarmouth returned for Norffolk, and only for Ipfvvich and Donewick for Suffolk. In 8 Cornwal, 28th of the fame king, Burgeffes returned only for Launcefton, Lafkard, Bodmin, Loftwithiel, Truro, Hellefton, and then follows, Nulla funt civitates infra ballivam meam, nee funt plures Burgi infra Ballivam meam. In 9 Devon, the fame year Burgefles returned only for Exon, Dartmouth, Totnes, Plimouth, Plimpton, Taveftock, Barnftable.
