The aim of this volume is to summarize the state of knowledge of biologically-based gender differences which impact on the diagnosis and management of neurological disease. The emphasis will be clinical. Authors will critically review the clinical, basic science and epidemiological literature for information which directly relates to gender differences, or information about women that is informative and clinically useful. Where available, information on ethnic differences is included. The importance of information in diagnosis and treatment of people of both genders and all ethnic groups is emphasised, and further reading will be suggested in order to provide missing information which is of practical importance.
