A quite different and unintelligible ancient language existed before the creation of the Galactic Basic Standard and the Old Galactic Standard. The language is evidenced only in the ancient poem Dha Werda Verda that remains untranslated. Presumably it was the basis for the creation of Old Galactic Standard (along with the influences of Durese and Bothese) although to what extent and what was their exact relationship remain unknown. To date, no exact history, description or even definition or name of that language has been given and the name 'Ancient Basic' is speculative. Also, the translation of the only known text is unknown. Ancient Basic was created by Ben Burtt for the lyrics to "Dha Werda Verda" specifically for the Shadows of the Empire CD.
