Mallarme's last great poem Un coup de des jamais n'abolira le hasard (Casting the dice once never will abolish chance) is one of the founding works of European modernism, a dramatic casting of words across the two-dimensional page. To read is to be drawn to areas and to evocative associations of nearby words and phrases in a mosaic of white space and imagery. This interactive multimedia presentation recreates, in 2000, the radicalism of Mallarme's extraordinary use of type and layout in 1897, allowing us access to entirely new experiences of this enduring masterpiece. The compact disc, suitable for a PC running Windows, is accompanied by a 76-page booklet and offers a kaleidoscope of multimedia presentations of the poem.

To use this compact disc, you will need a PC with a Pentium processor at 150MHz or greater, at least 32Mb RAM, Windows 95/98/NT or later, an 8x CD-ROM drive and a display capable of 1024 by 768 resolution. The disc is not suitable for use with Apple Macintosh computers or with the Linux operating system.
