Casual Friday's (Paperback)

Amanda Carter loved her job and working for Mr. O'Leary, especially on casual Fridays. On Fridays he came into the office wearing clothes that showed off his physique in a way that had all of the girls in the office pool swooning, and Amanda drooling. Now, however, Mr. O'Leary has informed her she has been selected to temporarily fill in as assistant to the CFO, Carl Wilson. The plus side, she will get a raise, the downside, she will have to move to another office on an entirely different floor, taking her away from the one thing that helped get her through her lonely nights; her fantasies of her beautiful, Irish, boss. After moving to the fifth floor, she finds it is not all bad. She meets Alan Anderson, Mr. Wilson's right hand man. She is immediately drawn to his cowboy-rugged, good looks and his charming smile. This, she hopes, will help her to deal with the disappointment of not seeing Mr. O'Leary every day. The Friday before she was to start the new position, Amanda receives a blocked call warning her not to take the job, that she would be used as a scapegoat. Amanda's nerves are temporarily set on edge, but after she talks it over with Sean Conway, her best friend, she blows it off as office pool jealousy. Her first day on the job, Mr. Wilson shows her how the company likes the financials of their clients to be entered, a way that Amanda feels is not completely above board. As a matter of fact, she begins to notice discrepancies that, if she is right, would add up to millions of dollars being misdirected to an offshore account. Her curious nature leads her to investigate (even though Sean warns her she should leave it alone) and search through old files. Now she is sure someone in the company is embezzling money, although she is not exactly sure who, and no longer knows who she can trust. After confiding in Alan, who is also in charge of securities at O'Leary's, and Sean, she wonders about the wisdom of her choices. When she goes to show Alan the files, they are gone, replaced by a completely different set of numbers and someone has been in her apartment, and has stolen the information she had in her brief case. As she discovers more information, things begin to happen around her and Amanda finds herself in a predicament she thought only happened in the movies. Now, it's not her job that is in her jeopardy, but her life...
