Not illustrated. 1908 edition. Excerpt: ...exchange. SIMPLE PROCEDURE OF COMMITTEE. The procedure of the committee of three is very simple and always oral. Complaints made in writing or written answers to complaints, or arguments by attorneys acting for either of the parties, are not admissible. Only documents and the testimony of witnesses actually present are allowed as evidence. Oaths of either of the parties can not be taken. Protocols of the testimony, or of the arguments presented, are not made. If, however, the committee renders a decision or effects a compromise at the request of either of the parties, the terms of the decision or of the compromise may be recorded in a protocol book, which must be signed by both parties. Decisions are made by a majority or unanimous vote of the committee as soon as possible after the hearing. If the terms of a decision or of a compromise are not fulfilled, aside from other legal measures, an application may be made by the committee to the board of directors to exclude the offending party from t lie benefits of the exchange. There is also a committee of three of the Berlin Preduce Exchange, which is similarly constituted and is governed by the same regulat ions as already described. It has the power to settle disputes regarding delivery, arising from transactions in the products listed on the exchange, and to interpret the rules and regulations. COURT OF ARBITRATION. The court of arbitration in the stock exchange is composed of five members appointed every year by the general board of directors of the exchanges from its own members. Five substitutes are also selected to take the places of members of the court who may be unavoidably absent or who may resign.
