Both steam and return pipes are covered with one inch of asbestos-magnesia pipe covering with a canvas cover which is painted with one coat of red mineral paint. All fittings are plastered with asbestos cement mortar. All steam pipes for the various buildings are now accesible in permanent subways and can readily be repaired if necessary. The subways have been well adaped to the use that they have been put to and have proven to be very satisfactory. It is the intention, in the near future, to place all electric wire on the campus as well as water, sewer and gas pipes in the tunnels. and such use has already been made of them. Having had quite a little experience with gasoline engines I contemplated the design and erection of a small motor during my college course but upon looking the matter up it at once became evident that the task was entirely too great for one person to accomplish so the project was given up. However, I learned that Mr. J. B. Davidson, a classmate, had thoughts of a similar project so together we commenced the design of a Two Cycle Gasoline Motor upon which we intended to do thesis work some three years later. It is from this thesis that most of this article is taken. During the last semester of 1901-2 the design was completed.
