Out of Space-Out of Time (Electronic book text)

Scott McKenzie is studying for finals when a cloaked figure appears, out of thin air, in the center of Scott's living room. The Marksman, as Scott thought of him later, steps out of an impossibly black oval-shaped doorway and shoots Scott in the cheek with small splinter-dart. Over the next few weeks the dart acts like an artificial virus affecting Scott in various ways- leaving him with strange and disturbing dreams, a newfound ability to form gates and jump through space, and dozens of haunting questions. On a path of discovery, Scott encounters intelligent artifacts, he finds out that there are three others at the University, the Resnicks, who were also recruited by the Marksman, and finally he learns the task for which they were recruited- a huge enclosed city on a world called Adamene is undergoing attack and about to be destroyed along with its one hundred million residents- unless- Scott, the Resnicks and the Marksman can devise a plan to save them.
