next time. Vote for the Liberal who will give the vote to your
brothers in the counties, not for the Tory who won't. Yote for the
Liberal who will vote for all the reforms the poor most need, not
for the Tory who won't. Vote for the Liberal who will try and get
rid of taxes on food, not for the Tory who won't. Vote for the
Liberal who will abolish the cat, not for the Tory who won't.
(Cheers.) You can return me if you choose. You should think of the
poorest and weakest first, of the little children first of all. Yon
want a Liberal Government whose first and chief thought should be
to protect, to clothe, feed and teach those who can't protect
themselves. (Hear, hear.) Take care of the pence and the pounds
will be sure to take care of themselves. That's advice you've often
had given to you, I dar6 say. Apply it. Send a man to Parliament to
represent you who will do his best to take care of the pence--that
is the poor, the lowly, the weak. (Cheers.) The pounds, that is the
peers and the great landlords, the very rich Tories, will be sure
to take care of themselves. (Hear, hear.) Know your own strength,
and take care of yourselves. If you keep Tories in power you'll
have your food taxed and perhaps get the cat-o'-nine-tails if you
grumble. Put Liberals in and you'll get a free breakfast table and
a chance of owning a bit of land of your own, (Loud and continued
