English summary: Karl Friedrich Ulrichs studies the expression pistis Christou, which is used eight times in Pauline justification contexts, and shows how the notorious restriction to the alternatives of either the subjective or the objective genitive can be overcome in the philological debate. He presents the arguments which have been offered by researchers up to now, puts these into a system, evaluates them and shows the problem in each of the passages in which the expression is used. The author develops a discourse between the disparate continental European and Anglo-Saxon research on this significant theological soteriological concept, thus expanding the discussion surrounding the new perspective on Paul. From a methodological point of view, this is a study based on the criteria of classical Greek philology which uses the principle of maximal redundancy. German description: Karl Friedrich Ulrichs untersucht die in paulinischen Rechtfertigungskontexten siebenmal (Rom 3,22.26; Gal 2,16.20; 3,22; Phil 3,9, vgl. 1Thess 1,3) belegte Wendung Glaube Christi.
Voted one of Christianity Today's 1996 Books of the Year The carnivalesque, pluralistic culture in hich we live can be seen as a consequence of the breakdown of modernity (which touted itself as the "greatest show on earth"), combined with a recognition of the socially constructed character of reality. Since the old construction has been discredited and is in a process of decomposition, the season is open on the construction of new realities which are produced with the speed and ease of temporary circus tents being raised. Far from witnessing the erosion or even eclipse of religious belief that the Enlightenment so confidently predicted, the eclipse of the Enlightenment has resulted in a veritable smorgasbord of religions and worldviews for our consumption. So Richard Middleton and Brian Walsh colorfully describe our postmodern setting. In this book they survey postmodern culture and philosophy, offering lucid explanations of such difficult theories as deconstruction. They are sympathetic to the postmodern critique, yet believe that a gospel stripped of its modernist trappings speaks a radical word of hope and transformation to our chaotic culture. The book for those who wonder what postmodernism is and how biblical Christians might best respond.

Wow your friends with the most unbelievable, the most outrageous, and the littlest-known facts about the Bible
Ever feel like you don't know much about people, places, and other hard facts of the Bible? Well, help is here, dear friend. T.J. McTavish, knower of many things, is back with A Biblical Miscellany-and it includes everything you need to know to stump even your local religious scholar.
A Biblical Miscellany covers such topics as: Famous (and not so famous) shepherds The "Cursing" Psalms-What use are they? Infamous infidelities Least Popular biblical names
Using both wit and candor, McTavish informs as well as entertains, leading you down a path of enlightenment-or at least of trivial revelation-and doling out tidbits on the Bible along the way.
The Bible claims to be the direct revelation of our Creator. So if the biblical record is true, it is a primary means by which the God of the universe has revealed Himself to mankind. However, if it can be proved false, then the God of whom it speaks is simply one more pretender in the assembly of gods that man has created. In "Is the Bible Reliable?" Dr. Stephen Meyer challenges you to examine the historical and archaeological evidence to determine for yourself the veracity and accuracy of biblical Scripture. Is the Bible true? You decide. Includes group discussion questions, creative exercises to help participants gain a greater understanding, and sidebars with background information that expand on the DVD content. This discussion guide is to be used in conjunction with the TrueU: "Is the Bible Reliable?" DVDs.

Betrayal. Slavery. Power. Redemption.
We think we know the story of Joseph--the young man sold into slavery by his own brothers before rising to immense power over all of Egypt. But is it possible that we've missed the real story behind the story?
In Joseph and the Gospel of Many Colors, Voddie Baucham Jr. helps us to understand the crucial role that the story of Joseph plays in redemptive history. Engaging and thoughtful, this book will help you read the Bible from a Christ-centered perspective and revitalize your love for God--the true hero of history.
God Meant is For Good traces the stages of Joseph's life as he matures from a young and impetuous man to one who is prepared to leave his own vindication with God. It presents a case study in total forgiveness exemplified by Joseph's reconciliation with his brothers and applies it to Christian living today. This classic book will challenge, provoke, transform and excite, as the God who taught Joseph to love, forgive and serve, is the God who meant it for good.
Simon Lee examines Jesus' transfiguration story found in the narrative account of Mark, tracing the development of its multiple readings through the first two centuries of the Christian era. The transfiguration story is especially interesting for the study of early Christianity, since the story reveals Jesus' divine glory in his lifetime. This study pays special attention to texts in which Peter is described as being the main witness to the event - the Synoptic Gospels, 2 Peter, Apocalypse of Peter and Acts of Peter . It also analyzes 2 Corinthians 3, where Paul explains believers' transformation on the basis of the comparison between Jesus' glory and Moses' glory. In comparing Paul's account with that of Mark, this study shows that there are some common theological patterns or ideas behind their accounts and that both inherited certain views from early Jesus traditions.
The Bible is the story of God's interaction with his creation. It is a story that occurs over time, in many places, and through many events. It's often easy to lose sight of the way in which God's story fits together when our primary way of looking at the Bible is a bit here and a bit there. The four-color "Chronological Life Application Study Bible" combines the proven resources of the "Life Application Study Bible" with a chronological format and several brand-new resources. The Bible is arranged in 10 chronological sections, which helps the reader to see how the various pieces of the Bible fit together.
