The Whole Church is an authoritative view of how clergy leadership can greatly benefit from understanding how systems theory is an essential learning tool to becoming an effective leader. The reader will learn how to diagnose symptoms of issue(s) that affect the church, how to overcome change and conflict, and ultimately emphasizes the significance of one's own spirituality and faith in guiding the congregation's pilgrimage.
In the last days, Scripture reveals that there will be a great
generational synergy: fathers and sons, mothers and daughters–multiple
generations coming together to see the Kingdom of God advanced and the
powers of darkness destroyed! For this explosive generational alignment
to take place, we need a fresh revelation of what it means to “serve
Every church needs leadership. But leadership should not reside in a single pastor. The biblical model for church leadership is found in teams of elders who together guide the community into God's mission. Church leaders J.R. Briggs and Bob Hyatt provide a comprehensive picture of elders as agents of mission for their communities. Healthy eldership structures a church for mission, as elder teams model the kind of community the local church is intended to be and steward the gospel in a local context. Looking at eldership through a missiological lens, Briggs and Hyatt unpack the role, character and posture of a mission-oriented elder. Elders oversee, shepherd, teach, equip and model for God?s people what life with Jesus looks like in a particular context. Including a study guide that elder teams can work through together, the authors provide practical guidance for how elders are selected, work together, make decisions, protect the congregation and invest in the lives of others. Discover here a clear vision for what it means to be a faithful elder. May it help you and your church thrive in pursuing God's mission in the world.
This is an unusual book, gathering wisdom on leadership from around the world, across a century. The material has been curated for its quality, and its reach. It will stretch the minds of younger leaders to help them see what they could do; and help them to think in new categories. The material is profound, but all lucidly expressed. It would be as accessible to an undergraduate student as to a pastor or business leader. The Appendix on good governance comes at a time when sad stories of poor governance have had detrimental effects on the ministries or publishing houses they are meant to have protected. This is unique to our knowledge. We trust it will enable trustees and board members to better understand their roles, and to be able to call out bad practice.
This foundational book will equip each believer with the basic
steps to a life-transforming, deeper intimacy with the Father.
"Transforming the Inner Man "introduces the keys that reach to the

Learn the secrets to building and maintaining a healthy, productive, and unified ministry team that sticks together for the long haul. Serving as a church leader can be a tough calling. Whatever your role, odds are you've known your share of the frustration and disillusionment that comes with turf battles, conflicting vision, and marathon meetings. You may have asked yourself, "How did it get this way?" With twenty years of front-line ministry experience, Larry Osborne understands congregations (as baffling as they can sometimes be) and he know how the best-intentioned teams can become disrupted and disunified. With this book, he aims to shore up the foundation of a healthy team--what does a unified and thriving church leadership look like and how can it be achieved? Sticky Teams is divided into three main sections, dealing with key aspects of what it takes to develop long-term, efficient harmony: Landmines and Roadblocks exposes the organizational structures, policies, and traditions that can unintentionally sabotage even the best of teams. You'll discover strategies for managing conflicts and getting around obstacles. Equipped for Ministry explores what it takes to get everyone on the same page and headed in the same direction. Chapters deal with practical tips for board, staff, and congregational alignment. Communication examines what it takes to keep everyone on the same page, with a special emphasis on some especially dicey areas and issues of ministry, such as conversations about money. Whatever your situation; from start-up phase, to mid-sized, to megachurch, Osborne has been there. As the pastor of North Coast Church, he's walked his board, staff, and congregation through the process of becoming more genuinely unified, and, because of that, better able to carry out God's design for his church. With warm encouragement and insight, he shares expertise that most pastors and leadership teams learn only from long experience: how to invest the time to create church harmony and how to lead so that unity is maintained long-term.
This book takes us deep into the practice of ministry showing us the basis of ministry in the hope of Christ's resurrection. Ministry in and with Christ takes place in the mood of Holy Saturday, that is, between Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, between the times. Medieval scholar Marco Bartoli, as translated by Clare scholar Sister Frances Teresa Downing, reconstructs the charismatic personality of Clare of Assisi, a great medieval figure whose voice has been heard through the ages. Bartoli explores what has been said about Clare and what has not been said, between evidence and interpretation, between silence and memory, using the most important source for knowing Clare, the Legenda sanctae Clarae virginis (The Legend of Saint Clare the Virgin), written by order of the pope on the occasion of Clare's canonization.

Questioning Authority analyzes current conflicts concerning authority in the Anglican church and offers a new framework for addressing them. It argues that authority in the church is fundamentally relational rather than juridical. All members of the church have authority to engage in discerning the church's identity, direction, and mission. Most of this authority is exercised in personal interactions and group practices of consultation and direction. Formal authority in the church confers power so responsibilities can be fulfilled. Church relations always include conflict, which may be creative and helpful rather than divisive. Conflict arises because persons and groups follow Christ in ways related to their own cultural context while also being in communion with others. Communion in the church requires embracing diversity, recognizing and respecting others' perspectives, and working together to discover and create common ground. Today's church needs more participatory forms of governance and decision-making that are conciliar and synodal.
